The Rose That Grew From Concrete

8:33 AM

Did you hear about the rose that grew
from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature's law is wrong
it learned to walk with out having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams,
it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else ever cared.
-Tupac Shakur

Its officially a year since I got my rose tattoo. I've been wanting an old-school rose tattoo since I was a little girl. I saw some Angelina Jolie movie back in the days and I knew I'd get one when I'm at the right age. I would doodle on my arm everyday and I started doodling on everyone's arms, too! You see, some people develop this certain love for body art/tattoos when they're adults but for me I was a kid when I knew I had to have one. Coming from strict parents it was difficult for me to express myself and to be who I truly was. Everyone has a million different ways to express art, individuality, uniqueness etc. Sometimes, you agree with them and sometimes you don't. If you want people to respect your choice of not getting one, respect the people who chose to have one. The world would be so much simpler if we all agree to disagree. And oh, happy 6 years to my blog!(there's a short thank you note at the bottom of this entry hehe). Crappp, time flies when you're doing A LOT. :<

I've met a lot of people asking me 'Aren't you afraid it would look ugly when you get older?'. Truth be told, yes. The same way I'm afraid my face would one day be wrinkly and my hair would change, my body- vulnerable and helpless. With or without tattoos, we all grow old. It's inevitable. We all get those wrinkles, the only difference is that, mine is wrinkled and colorful. :)

Mom's old pinstripes slack pants that I altered to my size. I love mashing up vintage things with classic pieces<3

You might be wondering why some photos have these blurred out pink paint brush over my chest. I was trying to experiment if a certain photo would change if the cleavage wasn't as exposed as the others. Would some people notice that I'm wearing a long pants and a jacket over my shoulder? Or would it be the same old slut shaming for boobs? Lol I probably dont make sense here. But long live the rose that grew from concrete. :p

What I wore: Fila jacket; Corset bralet made by me; Mom's pants; Vans Skate-Hi sneakers

Tip: If you feel like a boy for wearing baggy pants and sneaker, put on your bralet top/corset and you'll instantly feel like a girl... Thank me later lol.

Nothing like a pair of Vans Skate-Hi beaters.
Thanks for being part of my journey for the past 6 years! I've never had any expectations for this blog but you guys had stuck through my laziness and mediocrity. From me being a university student, to being a fashion design student and finally being a fashion designer- its all been documented here! Originally a platform where I can just post all my weird fashion ensembles and a place where i can voice out my opinions, my readers has been a constant reminder why I never stopped even through my crazy busy schedule. I never wanted to be known as a 'blogger' because I'm not really good at this, I just wanted to have a place where i can dump all my outfit shots and post whatever I want without checking the quality and the editing. Prolly also the reason why I never got a domain of my own. This is all still an experiment for me. But its been surreal. Really. Again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!
See you next year and happy holidays! Love you guys <3

xoxo, your lazy blogger,
Eva M.

Shoutout to my main girl for taking my photos.
